Sherry Barbour, a wife of 25 years, a mother to five adult children, and a multifaceted professional with a passion for empowering individuals and couples. Sherry wears many hats: she’s an author, co-owner of The Couples Couch (TCC) with her husband, co-owner of Inspiring Purpose Counseling Group (IPCG), and an Independent Marriage and Family therapist, licensed in the states of Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia. Her academic journey includes earning a Bachelor of Science in Human Development, a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, and a Doctor of Behavioral Health from Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies.

Sherry’s dedication to her craft is evident through her extensive qualifications. As a Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, she brings a wealth of expertise to her practice.

Sherry is a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist employing a systemic view of issues, acknowledging life’s seasons of doubt, uncertainty, and fear, yet steadfastly believing in the enduring hope found within relationships and self-connection.

Sherry’s training also includes trauma expertise, encompassing prenatal trauma, proficiency in EMDR and Brainspotting modalities, and training in various couples therapy models like Emotion Focused Therapy, Gottman, and Prepare & Enrich.


Sherry guides her clients on a transformative journey, illuminating the pathway to reclaiming lost hope and embracing an uncharted future. She advocates prioritizing emotional safety in therapy, emphasizing the need to shift from old coping mechanisms to new ways of living. Sherry staunchly believes in the healing power of genuine relationships and connections, viewing them as pivotal to the process of healing and growth.
